About your trip
Meru is a 4,562 m tall dormant volcano, located in the National Park of Arusha, about 70km west of Kilimanjaro. its surrounding savanna is populated by almost 400 species of births, giraffes, zebras, elephants monkeys leopards and buffaloes. That is why, for your visit, it is compulsory to hire a park ranger that will accompany you for all the length of your stay.
He will be equipped with training and tools able sedate animals if they become a danger for the visitor. Meru is the ideal prep for Kilimanjaro hike and, although his scenarios have nothing to envy to Kilimanjaro. Meru is usually not very crowded and it will allow you to fully enjoy the peace of the natural environment.

We are one of the very few agency offering guide only pack. Note that you need to be able to carry your own food for 4 days and up to 4 liters of water. We recommend that only very experienced hikers consider this option.

4 One food porter will be assigned to each tourist. He/she will not be carring water.
Every porter can carry a max of 20kg beyond their poersonal belonging.
Guide only tour EXCLUDE food. Visitors are required to buy resupply for a max of 1 kg of resupply per day of climb. Excess food will have to be carried by the visitor.
5 For guide only tour the visitor is required to carry his/her own backpack. Gears will be checked and tested the day before departure.
For compfort and deluxe tours the porter will be carrying
- visitor luggage (each porter can carry max 20kg each beyond personal belonging)
- tent and camping gears
- water to the last campsite where there is no natural water
6 For guide only tour the visitors will be required to cook their own food. Gas resupply will be checked before departure to make sure it is enough.

Itinerary. Tour example for 3 days
Moshi – Miriakamba Hut (2500m) Hotel pick up Hike thorough the Arusha national park to reach the feet of Meru, escorted by the ranger. Pass by the Ngarenanyuki River and waterfalls and arrival to the base of Mt Meru. Start of ascension till Miriakamba Hut (2500m) Breakfast lunch and dinner. Duration: 5-7 hours hiking
Miriakamba Hut (2500m) – Saddle Hut (3500m) Ascension to the Saddle Hut, passing by Mt. Meru Crater and the Ash Tray. Option of hiking Little Mt. Meru (3820m) with your guide for more acclimatization. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Duration: 3-5 hours of hiking
Saddle Hut (3500m) – Summit Attempt (4566m) – Arusha (1400m) Wake up at 00:30 for breakfast, start of summit attempt at 1:30 am. Crossing of a steep grade to Rhino Point (3800m) and Cobra Point (4350m). Summit of Meru (4565m) at sunrise with spectacular views Descend to Momella Gate and return to Moshi. Duration: 12-14 hours of hiking
